2009-07-18 1:54 PM My Woods This post reads stiff because I had to omit a lot of punctuation because of weird fonts.
Dear Family & Friends! It has been a long while for various reasons, but I am back to posting every so often. I hardly know where to begin because so much as happened since I last posted. I do still post photos at Envisage 365, as do 32 other women. It is a wonderful project and has become a true and treasured photo journal of my life. I can not write the whole backstory in this post, but will over time. Today I have decided to post some photos of my largest art project, to date. I live on 5.5 acres and have dedicated a back portion of about a quarter acre to a project I am very excited about. Its working title is My Woods. It started out with Tibetan Prayer flags. Hmm, actually before that. I have Netflix. I pay the lowest rate to have one movie at a time. I usually have a movie for about 6 weeks, which I know is not very cost effective. Anyway, I rented The Cry of the Snow Leopard, thinking it was a National Geographic-type documentary. The film was indeed a documentary, but about Tibet and the plight and flight of the people, Monks, and Nuns. The film spans 20 years and is heartbreaking. Snow Leopards are endangered as are the Tibetans. The Snow Leopard is also prominently featured on the Tibetan flag. The film greatly impacted me. Hence, the Tibetan prayer flags. My Woods grew and flourished from that day forward to become a magical destination for all ages. Everyone is welcomed to walk the pebbled paths I have created. I invite visitors, if they wish, to leave objects they would like to have installed in My Woods. I trust that people will add to my sanctuary and not take away any of the manymanymany symbols to be found throughout. So, that is where I am starting today, with My Woods. The other important announcement I have is that I now have a beautiful full grown cat. I renamed him Roger, which he likes a lot. I adopted him from a woman who will be living in an African country I can not remember and never could pronounce, and will be doing some kind of public health stuff. Roger is simply amazing and trails after me in the My Woods whenever I am working there or napping. :) He jumps up and snoozes with me. There are two entrances to My Woods and both have doorknobs and door knockers and doorbells Roger! One of the paths. A curve in one of the paths. A place to meditate or rest. There are about 30 clocks in My Woods, and doors and windows and Christain symbols and Jewish symbols and, of course, the Tibetan prayer flags. A window at twilight. An old church pew. I am in the process of putting arrow signs up which give the mileage to friends and family. A case of stolen identity! She's holding one of my canes and a Piggly Wiggly bag. She's wearing a granny rain hat to protect her from the elements. There is a screen door in the background and others out of range that are installed about 12 feet in the air. Clocks, clocks everywhere! Me wearing my "tick" hat. More doors to install in My Woods. One can barely see the huge dragon fly made from scrap metal. A large fish made from scrap metal. A stylized woman made from metal. My Woods changes every day, so there will be plenty more tours. xoxo Reenie Read/Post Comments (14) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
