2012-09-19 12:24 PM Morocco & Me I'm experimenting with several venues regarding future posts. I've jumped back into Photobucket again and marveling the opportunity to flood Journalscape with visuals when words escape or fail me. Animoto is also a favorite destination for me. I download photos from my cheapy Wal*Mart camera and beautiful slideshows emerge.
Two winter ago, I was in Rabat, Morocco to volunteer at a children's hospital in the cancer wing. I put few photos of the children in the slideshow because I felt guarded about using their images. I fell seriously in love with Morocco and the people. Rabat isn't a tourist destination so the immersion felt genuine albeit no matter what my attire etc, my American privilege was always apparent. I felt a compulsion to represent my birthright well and with mercy. At times I've fretted that I've over-romanticized the experience, but my heart tugs so hard to return if my body cooperates. In the event my body doesn't cooperate, I'm in the process of pulling a lifetime together for my children. This video captures so well the very heart of who I think I am and how I would like to be remembered. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
