Pop star reunited with wife after baboon seized
A German pop star has been reunited with his wife who left him when he told her he preferred the company of his pet baboon.
Werner Boehm took the female baboon home after filming a music video following his success in the German version of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!
But his wife Susanne had to leave when he let it share their bed because she had told him "Either the monkey goes or I do."
She agreed to return after police took the baboon to a zoo following complaints by animal rights groups.
She said: "Werner sent me a text message to tell me that the monkey was gone, and that he only loved me and I should come back.
"At first I didn't want to, but then we talked for a long time. Werner assured me I feel much nicer in bed than the monkey did."
Boehm told Bild newspaper: "I am devastated. But I didn't have any other choice than to let the monkey go. Even though she doesn't belong to me anymore, the separation really hurts.
"She has gone back to the zoo in Brandenburg, where she lives with other members of her species. I'm planning to visit her soon, as I really miss her. But if I'm honest, it would have been difficult for her to take Susanne's place."
