Back At Work

It's been weird being back at work this week after having most of last week off, due to the tremendous amount of snow that fell. I was right; what started out as pretty white flakes ended up immobilizing Raleigh and Cary for several days. It took three days before I could even get my car out of its parking space; the considerate plough-drivers who came through my apt complex cleared off the parking lot, but shoved all the snow and ice against the cars in the process, so we wouldn't have been able to get out even if we wanted to. But all that white stuff has mostly melted off now, and the sun is shining brightly. It's supposed to be 60 degrees today. I just don't get our freaky weather sometimes.

I've gotten several requests from people for a copy of the chapbook after seeing or hearing about it. Since I gave away the 25 copies that I printed, what I'm going to do is burn the PDF that I created onto a CD for anyone who wants one, viewable with Adobe Acrobat Reader. I'm really flattered that people are actually asking for a copy, showing interest in what I do. It's a gratifying feeling.

I went to a fantastic show last night at the Six String Cafe at McGregor Village, a double bill showcasing the singing and songwriting talents of Taylor Roberts and Kyler England. First, Taylor did a set, then Kyler did a set, then they both did one together. It was a really cool evening; if you've been reading at all in this blog, you'll know that Kyler is a friend of mine, and the inspiration for my story "Songstress." I knew Taylor from N.C. State, when he was still in Figment and the Rest; he was also an RA when I was an incoming freshman, and one of the neatest people I'd ever met. He showed me it was cool to wear a goatee (just on the chin, no moustache), and he still sports one. As do I (look at the picture in the BIO section of my website). Anyway, it was a great show, three hours of fun and reunion, and I am one tired puppy today.
