It's a cold, rainy day today, wet and damp and chilly. Quite a contrast to the weather we had last week. It's only going to be in the upper 50s today, and I couldn't be happier. Unfortunately, tomorrow it's supposed to get back up into the 70s. Bloody weather.

So, because of the ickiness outside, I've been doing more job search stuff this morning. I discovered that Monster.com has affiliates sites for Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. I now have agents searching for jobs in all the English-speaking places I can think of. I wonder, if I went outside and did a Rain Dance backward, would it get me a job? At this point, I'll try anything.

I'm going to be posting excerpts from my most current fiction on my website a little later today, so that you folks out there in the ether can get a better gauge of the current level of my writing.

I watched two Star Wars movies last night, Episodes IV and I, and was struck by the differences in each film. I mean, other than the obvious special effects differences. Episode IV, because of technological and budget restraints, relies heavily on character and story, while Episode I relies heavily on digital effects. I still think that A New Hope is better than The Phantom Menace in terms of good storytelling; it felt like Lucas used CGI as a crutch to aid a thin story in Episode I, handwaving wildly to distract the viewer from realizing what a thin plot he had written. I only hope Episode II: Attack of the Clones fares better writing-wise, and I hope Jar Jar Binks gets run over by a speeder.
