And I forgot to mention...today we received a box of issues of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction from Gordon van Gelder. Inside were the May 2000 and August 2002 (which just came out on newstands) issues, one apiece for each participant of the workshop. I thought this was a really great thing to do; it made me feel like what were doing here has relevance in the real world, that established publishers and editors (like Gordon) take Clarion seriously. It was very generous of Gordon, and if anyone out there happens to know him or has his email address, please thank him for me. It was a nice little boost for the day.

(Plus, I always appreciate the speed of responses from the F&SF staff. Whether it's Gordon or his editorial assitant, I usually get my stories back within a week, which is fantastic, because then I can send it right back out to another publisher.)

I got a nice three-hour nap today, with some bizarre surreal dreams involving a few of the folks here at the workshop. I feel rested and raring to go.

Tonight's class will be Plotting a Story in an Hour, and since it's in 45 minutes and I haven't read the other two stories for tomorrow yet, I'm going to go now.
