2002-07-07 8:52 PM The Biggest Watergun Fight in History Mood: Soaked to the Bone |
First off, I want to apologize for the lack of a journal entry yesterday. Terribly sorry, won't happen again. There.
Yesterday was another Strange Saturday (which, I suspect, is somehow related to Freaky Friday), but I at least got some things accomplished. I drove myself, Janet, and Edd to the Meridian Mall, where I got a thank-you note for the scholarship folks in a Hallmark-type store (where in the back they had pressure-activated mechanical Kung Fu Hamsters clad in traditional garb, which danced and chopped and twirled a nunchukus to the tune of a high-pitched version of "Kung Fu Fighting"), as well as both the hardcover and audio CD versions of Coraline by Neil Gaiman at Schuler's Books. I then drove down to a tuxedo shop on Grand River to get my measurements done (since my good friend Derek is getting married to my good friend Katie on August 3rd, and I'm the best man). After getting back, a big group of us walked down Grand River to a really great Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant (not the Asian House, which was closed). Then we came back and I astonished myself by writing 600 words to start "In the Valley of the All-Father", which I'm hoping to complete by Tuesday. At 10:00, a group of us gathered in Geoff's former apartment in Van Hoosen and watched Princess Mononoke, a really fantastic piece of Japanese animation. This morning, I slept in and felt great. I got caught up on email and surfed a bit, then went to Lot 91 and got my car. Today, at Lister's house, was a massive barbecue and party. The food was great, we got a history lesson on Lister's sword collection, and heard Patrick play a small harp, though he had never picked one up before (though I'm told he's an unbelievably good guitar player). It was also the site of the Biggest Watergun Fight in History. No one was safe, and everyone was soaked down to their underwear after it was over. And I came to the conclusion that my little super-soaker just wasn't enough to do any kind of significant damage. For the 35th reunion, I'll have to remember to wear a light tee-shirt and swim trunks. Once we got back, I tried to get a nap, but ended up just laying there, unable to fall asleep. I still need to run over the three stories again for tomorrow, and I've been told there will be a DVD viewing tonight of the South Park movie: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. So with tired eyes and aching muscles, I bid you good evening. Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
