2003-07-20 8:00 PM and the winner is... Mood: surprised Read/Post Comments (7) |
...me, apparently.
I got an email this morning from Audra Bruno that I'd been picked randomly as a winner from those who donated to the Strange Horizons June Fund Drive. There was a good selection of prizes, and I chose 3000 Miles Per Hour In Every Direction At Once, the brand new collection of stories and essays by the indefatigable Nick Mamatas. Nick emailed me a little later and asked if I wanted anything inscribed, and I told him to suprise me. Hmm, I may regret that... I was happy to see that Strange Horizons met their goal with this latest fund drive. Now they'll be able to continue putting out their quality ezine, and hopefully be able to buy one of my stories or poems one of these days. I went to a party last night for a good friend I went to high school with as a sort of housewarming for her and her husband. It was weird, I hadn't seen Nikki in about nine years, and out of the blue I got an email from her on Classmates.com while I was in Singapore. We've been emailing back and forth since then. It was really good to see her last night and get to catch up. She looks exactly the same as I remember her. I am trying trying trying to finish this omnibus Small Beer Press review for GMR so that I can turn it in this week. I can tell you right now, I won't be doing one of these again; reviewing one book at a time is hard enough, let alone six. The hardest part is going back to books I've not looked at for a year. And I really should get on that.
