As two of my favorite redheads would say: "Holy holy holy..."

I got a cable modem installed today. Woo hoo! Great googly moogly! Jumping jehosephat yeehaw! This is so freaking awesome. Email takes a nanosecond to check instead of an endless number of times trying to connect over dialup, and if I did get connected, the server would usually crap out midway through the download, meaning I'd have to do it all over again. Forget about even getting files over 10K. But now. Now. I updated both my computers with the latest Windows downloads in no time. I got to talk on the phone and surf online at the same time. Instead of taking three hours to download the Spider-Man 2 teaser trailer, it's only taking seven minutes.

I repeat: WOO HOO!

The guy from Time Warner came this morning at 10 a.m., but didn't realize I was also getting a wireless network installation as well, so he called another dude who did those, and that dude (a cool Liverpudlian named Gary) arrived at 11:20. (Classes don't start until tomorrow, and I'm still jobless, so I was home for most of the day.) It took him until almost 2:00 p.m. to get me all set up, with the problems that kept coming up. Apparently, Windows 98 and Linksys wireless PC cards don't work so well together. So he put a Motorola USB adapter on both my PC and laptop, and both are working great. Once Janet gets here, we'll be able to fix her up as well.

Whee!
