Today is the last day to donate to the Strange Horizons September Fund Drive (previously reported here). Please give a little to help this wonderful magazine keep going.

There is now only a month left to submit to Scattered, Covered, Smothered, and I sent out another batch of rejections the other day. I anticipate seeing a flood of emails on October 31, so if you're planning to send something, please consider doing it before then to lessen the burden on my poor sensuous manifold.

The deadline is almost up to register to vote for the upcoming election (depending on what state you live in), so pretty please with sugar on top, if you're not yet registered, do so ASAP.

The first presidential debate is tonight at 9 p.m. Here's hoping Kerry kicks some moron ass.

Quail Ridge Books in Raleigh is having their 20th Anniversary Celebration this weekend, which includes a used book sale, a panel featuring a New York literary agent and six of her authors, free Whole Foods coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts, a light lunch while listening to Primavera (a quartet of NC Symphony musicians), and prize giveaways (mostly books).

My birthday is Sunday. I'll be turning 29. That's right, almost 30. Let the jokes and snide comments begin.
