The digital machines control me.

They tell me when to get up, when to take my meds, when to leave the house.

They allow me to start my vehicle, allow me to pass through intersections at a timing of their conveniance, allow me to enter my workplace.

They watch me in the parking lot, filter my email, monitor my work progress.

They compile my purchasing habits, track what subscriptions I hold, aggregate what groups I donate to.

They control us all, whirring and clicking in quiet contemplation.

Often, I want to be between the states of on and off.
