There's a friend of mine who always seems to be able to use her... "feminine wiles" let's call them, to get preferential treatment from the males around her, in spite of what I see as a pretty obvious ploy.

She's not unattractive, but I'm surprised it works so regularly. It's not like she's engaging in anything actually sexual outside of a bit of flirting, but it's blatent to me what she does. Yet it suceeds.

I guess what makes me all the more amazed by this is that she really doesn't have a good practical sense of the world. Let me explain:

She's just out of school and has had no jobs outside college. She has no concept of workplace politics, the job market, or even much of the outside world. She can talk about foreign cultures but she's not been to really any, and you'd barely be able to get her outside of a major city, and certainly not by something dirty and icky like public transportation. She'll dicuss the way things should be, with no practical knowledge of how things are.

It's like a child with an atomic weapon.

The combination just baffles me. Maybe she doesn't realize what she's doing. I'm not sure if that's more suprising or less. And I really don't get how people don't notice what she's doing. It's probably more that that just don't care, and want the attention.


I don't know what brought this up. I guess too many long hours at work and your mind starts to wander too much.
