I sometimes think, "What potential brillant inventor, or peace-creating statesman or woman has been cut short in a burst of gang violence before reaching that goal?"

What world-improving scientist or musical auteur will never write that music or make those discoveries because they died from lack of medical coverage or drug abuse?

I'm saddened by the sheer waste of potential that happens in the neighborhoods around me, and wonder how much more the world would be better if so many people weren't killed before they reached their potential in life.
