I'm having a crappy weekend, but I can ignore it for a brief celebration of May Day, where the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions in the US demanded an 8 hour workday in by 1886.

While it's more often now associated with International Workers Day, which causes consternation in the US because it's celebrated by socialists and communists, I'd say having an 8 hour workday has been a pretty good thing, and worth a bit of a celebration.

Not that I've had an 8 hour workday in ages, but it sure sounds nice.

Happy May Day, and the thought that someday in the US there will be a better balance between work and homelife for everyone.
