I'm thankful to be working with a collection of diverse and interesting personalities, as I may be the single most boring person on the face of the earth right now.

Well, maybe not just now either.

I hear stories relayed by a Russian co-worker about programming for mob-owned companies and the gunplay involved, and while I'm not sure I want that much spice in my life, it does leave me a bit hollow feeling at the moment.

Hearing these fantasticly funny and interesting stories told around the lunch table is a refreshing change from hospital updates, or the lack thereof, but it brings into sharp relief how over a period of years, my life has shrunk down to this little point of tedious minor routine.

When the self-titled "bitter old queen" who was drafted into the military in his homeland in South America tells tales of stupid Generalissimos and unenthusiastic recruits, I enjoy every word like it's a great novel, with the added impressiveness that it's someone's real life. Not a made up story, even if embellished.

It's amazing. These people from all walks of life who have actually done things worthy of stories. They are so cool to hear.

Me, I got nothing.

Maybe my kidneys will act up again and give me something to talk about. Oh that'd be great....
