2006-06-19 9:43 PM Lost Words and Laptops Mood: Sad, but Hopeful Read/Post Comments (2) |
I was able to resurrect the laptop for one last weekend of writing (and plotting/outlining) happiness. I took it to work last Tuesday and let one of the techs play with it. Yes, I am a tech myself, but I'm a mainframe tech. Which means I am almost obsolete.
Anyway, he got it to boot, and I was able to back up my files and run a system copy, which replaced the corrupted files. So, I took it to Incline Village last weekend. That's near Lake Tahoe. Once again, I put in two plus hours on my outline. I also wrote a personal journal entry. And worked on a few other "projects" and some fun writing. If I was smart I would have backed it all up. If I wasn't lazy and forgetful, I would have backed it all up. This morning, I decided to run a disk scan and disk defrag on it. All went fine. Until I tried to reboot. Sigh. It's now officially dead. And I'm not as upset as I ought to be, not even about the lost words. And that's odd. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
