Opening Line of the Day: What song is this?
"She came from Providence, the one in Rhode Island."

Word of the Day:

lassitude -- langour, weariness; disinclination to assert or interest onself
***

At this point, anyone and everyone (even Dilana) can land in the Bottom Three. Ben and I didn't want to venture a guess, but we weren't surprised to see Patrice there. We're in a position where we like everyone, and it's really down to the voters. And it's all about being right for Supernova as opposed to giving a good performance. Sadly, if a rocker doesn't seem "Supernova-ish" by now, then, well ...

Summary: (my grade / band's grade).

PATRICE (Beautiful Thing - Patrice Pike): I really like Patrice. She rocks. She sings well. She perfroms well. And her songs was really good. Though I didn't like hearing it, I have to agree that her song was not right for Supernova. Even Tommy saying they could work with the song, won't save Patrice. And I hate to see her go. But I think The Austin Rocker is out of time.(B / C)

MAGNI (Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana): Once again, The Iceman nailed it. He is able to capture a grungy song like this, and he's can also deliver a great performance with Bowie songs. This shows diversity, which I think the band likes.(A / A)

SIDEBAR: I don't like seeing gutiars get smashed. Maybe it's cool, and it's rock & roll. But I have too much respect for musical instruments. Sorry, that's just how I feel.

RYAN (Back Of Your Car - Ryan Star): Last week, I called him The Dark One. This week, Dave called him The Dark Horse. I was close, yeah? Ryan has definitely come out of nowhere, and he's stepped it up week by week to become one of the top contenders. He's reclaimed the second spot on my list and Ben's list. And this absolutely did sound like a Supernova song. I think we all felt it. Ryan nails it again! As an aside ... I think Ryan was going to break his guitar anyway, before the band told the rockers that someone should do it.(A+ / A+)

STORM (Cryin - Aerosmith): I was worried about Storm trying to tackle a Steven Tyler vocal. We all remember what happened to Jordis last year. And Storm can't afford another bad night. I watched her with held breath as she passed all the high notes of this Aerosmith classic, and finally relaxed as she delivered a stunning performance. I think she earned points for taking the song everybody was afraid of. And I think she's right back in this thing. And ... she's just so dang HOT.(A+ / A+)

DILANA (Every Breath You Take - Police): Every performance she's given has been awesome. No matter what song she does, she nails it. Still the top contender. She is still The One. She may go wire to wire (which means she'll hold the top spot for the dudration of the season).(A++ / A++)

TOBY (Layla - Derek and the Dominos): I'm not sure about The Amazing Aussie this week. You have to be careful when you tackle a CLASSIC and try to rearrange it. I didn't care for the opening, but the overall perfromance was really good. Toby is a star, but not a Supernova, I don't think.(B / B)

LUKAS (All These Things That I Have Done - Killers): Great song, great performance. Where I initially picked Lukas as my second choice to be the winner, he kinda falters. There seems to be ~something~ the band has to tell him -- like not turning his back -- that he should already know. I think Ryan has eclipsed him as a top contender. But he's good, really good.(A / B)

If any of you missed the show, go to the website and watch some of these performances.

Perform with Supernova: Magni
Encore: Ryan
Bottom Three: Patrice, Toby, Storm
Dismissed: Patrice
TOP 4 (in order): Dilana, Ryan, Storm, Magni
