2007-02-14 9:52 PM New Guitar Teacher Mood: Excited Read/Post Comments (3) |
It's not just that I have't had time to blog. I just havcen't had much to say about writing. Or about anything in general, for that matter.
I have been struggling with my writing lately. When I have inspiration, I have no time. And when I have time, I have no inspiration. But I will have novel updates soon. I have only a few more scenes to "reconcile" and then I'll be plowing ahead. The exciting news is that I started lessons with a new guitar teach on Tuesday. There's no disrespect or bad feelings toward my previous teacher (in case you're erading this). The reasons were mostly economic in nature. But I did feel it was time for a change for me, time to take my guitar playing in a different direction. My previous teacher was classicly trained, and taught me a lot about chords and scales and music theory. The flaws present in my playing are my own, likely due to not enough practice. Tom started me off with some basics -- G and C scales, chords (including the awful Bs and Fs), and then we played a variation of HOTEL CALIFORNIA, which is my homework piece. Meantime, I have managed to teach myself a few songs that I can get through with just a few mistakes and awkward chrod changes, which include TEQUILA SUNRISE and LYIN EYES by the EAGLES; MOTHER by PINK FLOYD; and I've just started playing TIME FOR ME TO FLY by REO SPEEDWAGON. For those who know, these songs have a lot of G, C, and D chords. What my friend Matt calls "campfire" chords. Well ... it's late. I'm going to watch the rest of MEDIUM (a really interesting epsiode tonight) and then ... SLEEP!! Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
