I refuse to attend anymore weddings/family functions.
We have an agreement. One person will be the designated driver. I am VERY insistant on this. But I'm a nice guy so 90% of the time I volunteer. We attended a wedding yesterday and it was agreed the other person would be the designated driver this time. Fair, since I almost always do it. But no sooner than we arrive at the reception the other person orders a Kahluia and cream. OK. It is 6 pm and no one has to drive til 11. So one drink can't hurt. While I am nursing the first half of a rum and coke this person finishes their drink in about 10 minutes and orders a second. That's it. I put aside my drink and start drinking water for the rest of the night. I will not allow a person under the influence behind the wheel of a car. Even if they say"oh I can handle it better than you". No way. I really don't think this was fair to me andtotally disregarded my safety. So I don't feel I am wrong to refuse to attend anymore of these functions. Even if I don't, the other person can't. Am I wrong or am I doing the right thing? Read/Post Comments (4) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
