2005-01-24 11:54 AM SNOW MORTALITY Mood: Content Read/Post Comments (0) |
I feel that the whole world outside has been dropped into a snow globe and shaken furiously. The big fat flakes swirl madly in the angry wind that seems to be set on seeking vengence on someone unknown victim. Only the bravest souls venture out, but with obviously reluctance. Heads bowed against the bitter cold, shuffling their feet as quickly as they can to reach their destinations sooner. It seems such an unnatural phenomen, it looks as thought it would be nosiy, loud, rushing pandemonium outside. But silence is all that rings in my ears, with the occasional wind brushing across my face, I am separated from its fury as I walk in its midst. The freezing cold is all the reaches my skin making it burn. Such unwelcomed temperatures are still an amazing presence of nature and God. We could never create a storm of this magnitude, in all its simplicity. These occurances that we take forgranted everyday would be a miraculous occuration if created by man. I believe simple daily trifles are to remind us of our own mortality and the blessings that we do have everyday that we often overlook. We do not need a big screen tv, but we do need shelter, food, clothing, and companions. We need the breath in our lungs and the thudding of our hearts, but we do not need the internet or cell phones. (even though I would be lost with out either) Imagine, snow reminding me that I am human, signifigant as a grain of sand on a beach, minute, but without that grain, somehow the beach would be found lacking.
-kln- As long as I know how to love I know that I will survive. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
