2005-05-09 3:20 PM Disneyland's 50th, Travel Town, Mother's Day, oh my! Previous Entry :: Next Entry Mood: Happy Read/Post Comments (3) This was certainly a whirlwind weekend. I took Thursday off to go to the start of the Disneyland 50th anniversary celebration. Saturday we went to Travel Town and then downtown for dinner and Sunday was Mother's Day.
We'd been planning to go to the first day of the Disneyland celebration for months. Of course, Wednesday Marcelo got a call to come pick Marc up at day care because he'd thrown up all over one of the teachers. Marcelo picked him up and he was fine for a few hours, until I got home. When I got home he threw up on me, then again at about 2am. No Disneyland was what we were thinking. But then he was fine, happy and playful in the morning, so we took him to school and headed to Disneyland. (Turns out they fed the kids some bad apples at school which resulted in an upset stomach.) We got to Disneyland at about 10:30 (they opened at 9) and went on Indiana Jones right away since that one usually has the worst line. The lines were pretty big for everything, especially lunch. We went on a few other rides that we don't usually get to go on because they're not kid friendly. Basically, we just had a lot of fun together. I felt a little guilty for going to Disneyland without Marc, but it was great to spend time just with Marcelo. We didn't stay long enough to see the new parade or the new fireworks, so we'll probably do that next weekend with Marc. We also have to find out which one of the collages has our picture in it. Saturday we went to Travel Town. We'd never taken Marc, but I pass by there on a shortcut around the 134/5 interchange every day and it looks cool. Marc's been really into trains recently so we decided to go in the afternoon. He had tons of fun running around looking at all the trains. He pointed them all out to us, as though we didn't know what they were. :) The main trains with stairs up into them were being used for private birthday parties, but there were still others to look at. They also have a little museum with a big model train area set up and some vintage cars (momos!) and stuff. He totally wore himself out, but he had a lot of fun and we enjoyed it with him. Afterwards we went to Philippe's down near Union Station. Yummmm. For those of you who have never been to Philippe's, it's where they invented the French Dip sandwich. My mother's day present from Marc was getting to sleep in until 7:30. :) Sunday afternoon, we went to Mother's Day brunch at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney with my mother-in-law, stepmother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law and his girlfriend, and stepbrother-in-law. Marc was very antsy the whole time because he'd been woken up from his nap very early in order to get to brunch. But I got a little bit of a break since the grandparents took turns with me taking him downstairs to run around and look at the fountains. After brunch, I took Marc into Disneyland to go on the choo-choo and then we went home. He fell asleep on the drive home and napped until about 8pm. I had to wake him up then or I knew he'd never go to sleep (his usual bedtime is 9:30). Surprisingly he was ready to sleep at his normal time. I lay down with him and he rolled around and wanted to play a little bit, but finally he curled up next to me, pulled my arm around him and just fell right asleep. :) :) And then he slept until 8 this morning! A wonderful end to a wonderful day. Read/Post Comments (3) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
