2005-08-29 1:37 PM first midwife appointment Previous Entry :: Next Entry Read/Post Comments (1) Friday was our first appointment with the new midwife. I really like her and the difference between seeing a midwife and seeing an OB is huge. At the OB we were a number. At the midwife, she remembered us and the things we'd discussed when we went down there for a consultation (to see if we liked the place). When we went over my medical history, she saw that I get migraines and she told me about an alternative, pregnancy safe, treatment. It involves taking a dose of cayenne pepper, and if that doesn't work snorting it up your nose, but still... when desperate enough... ;) What regular doctor would even know about a remedy that doesn't involve synthetic drugs?
Hopefully this time we'll manage to actually have the birth at the birth center as planned. It's a really great place. http://www.thebirthcenter.net/. She checked the baby's heartrate which was 151 and we went over ways to keep this pregnancy healthy and low risk, since she can't take patients that are not low risk. The biggest thing it involves is a healthy diet. She also had a huge list of supplements she wants me to take. It looks something like this: 1 prenatal vitamin daily 750 mg of calcium 1500 mg of magnesium 1 fish oil supplement 1 flax seed oil supplement 2 or 3 other things I can't remember right now And then as I get closer to the end, I'm sure I'm going to be adding Evening Primrose Oil and Raspberry Leaf. At least she's letting me wait on most of them until my morning sickness is gone and I can stomach all that stuff. :) Read/Post Comments (1) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
