I love this time of year. Yes, it's still cold. And awfully rainy. But every day on my way to work, I drive through part of the burn area from the Santiago Fire in Orange County. Seeing the dusting of new green in the canyons which just a few weeks ago were brown and black with burned trees and shrubs is amazing. Just over the weekend, the dusting of green turned into a blanket, covering most of the hillsides. Every year, I know spring is arriving when the green of new life replaces the barren brown land and is quickly followed by bursts of yellow along the freeway.
