I took the kids to the library last weekend and one of the books they chose was "No, David!". It's actually a pretty cute book. The author's note says that his mom just sent him a book he'd made when he was 5 that was drawings of himself getting in trouble and consisted only of the words "no" and "david". The published book is his update on the theme.

Every night, I have to read it several times to Alex (and sometimes Marc) when I put him to bed. He absolutely loves it (probably because he's heard a lot of the same things! lol) and at the end after all the "no, David!"s, he always gives me a sweet hug after the mommy says "Davey, come here. Yes, David, I love you". He's also particularly fond of the page that shows David running naked ("he all nakey!") down the street. LOL

Marc has also added his own subtext to some of the pages... When the mom tells David to be quiet, he adds "I'm on the phone!". I guess I say that a lot, especially when I'm working. Last night when we were out to dinner, Alex was yelling about something and jumping on the seat. I shushed him and he asked me "you on phone?". Ah well...
