He can recall the playlist of almost any concert he's ever been to. Not just what songs were played, but the order they were played in. And considering that he's been to probably 100 shows in the last 20 years, that's quite a memory. He can also identify a piece of music from just hearing a single bar, can tell you what band performed it, what album it was on, and likely what track number it is on that album. If it's appeared on multiple albums or been covered by multiple people, he can tell you that too.
It seems that Marc has inherited this. For example, we were listening to music in the car and a piece came on from Nightmare Before Christmas. It was one of the pieces of background music and he said "Oh, that's Dr. Finkelstein!" and he was right. He correctly identified the music as being from that movie (it was on random play and wasn't playing with other music from the movie) and then identified the exact part of the movie that the music came from. He's always surprising me like that. He likes to sing a lot too. He sings to himself while he plays, he sings while he's falling asleep, he sings in the car. I enjoy introducing him to different kinds of music. He gets so excited about new songs. At one point, he taught his entire class how to sing Mr. Roboto and Blitzkrieg Bop. He also loves zydeco and jazz and punk and new wave. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
