Considering the state of the economy and Lisa's post, I was pleasantly surprised when the following notice came home from school today:

"Our District participates in the California Class Size Reduction Program (CSR), which allows us to receive State funding to lower our class sizes in grades K-3. To participate in the program, districts must maintain a year-long average class size of 20.44 students in Kindergarten, first, second, and third grade classes...

...To avoid the disruption caused by moving students to different classrooms or assigning children in the same family to different schools during the year to maintain the class size, Bonita USD has elected to add a certificated teacher to K-3 classes where needed."
