2007-06-21 6:38 PM Tokaj wine My sister-in-law, from Zilina, Slovakia, introduced me to this golden, fruity dessert wine from Slovakia and Hungaria years ago.
Sometimes she gives me bottles when she comes back from her yearly sojourn home. http://www.spectacularslovakia.sk/ss2001/tokaj_wine_ascii.html It's awesome. It's like drinking pinot noir if pinot noir were a fruity, white dessert wine difficult to find in the United States. Anyway, if you ever have a chance to drink it, do. Of course the appellation is as much under strict traditions and argument as "champagne", but if you have a bottle from Slovakia or Hungary spelled "Tokaj" or "Tokai" or "Tokay", you've probably got the right thing.
