2008 Books #21 and 22 Book of a Thousand Days and Be Mine Tonight

So Naoto went out last night, and though I had plans to do some writing (I was inspired by book #21, whose female narrator voice and Asian location got my mind going), it took FOREVER for girl2 to go to sleep last night.

You know, when their breathe quiets, and you start hoping they're asleep, and then the look up and smile at you. ARRRRRRRRGGH.

Anyway, it turned out last night was a rest-in-bed-reading kind of night instead.

So, Shannon Hale's A book of a thousand days, ROCKED. It's written from the perspective of a steppes nomad who becomes the maid to a high-born lady who is locked into a tower by her father for refusing to marry the right man.

But you see, perspective is everything, and this maid loves the fact that she has lots of food, doesn't have to do lots of hard labor, etc etc. Very well done.

Everthing I read by Shannon Hale, including Goose Girl, makes me insanely jealous. Which is a good thing, if you didn't know.

The next book was Be Mine Tonight, a vampire romance book (as opposed to a vampire urban paranormal). Meaning, the focus was on the romance and relationship as opposed to other things.

It was okay. No big whoop.
