2008 Books #95 Trollbridge: A Rock 'n Roll Fairytale

Continuing on with my discovery of Adam Stemple as a YA writer, I read Trollbridge which is a collaboration between Adam and his famous mother, Jane Yolen.

The book follows two young protagonists, Moira a 15 year old harp prodigy who gets swept over a stone bridge in Norwegian Minnesota territory with 11 other Dairy Princesses, and Jakob Grifson who is the youngest member of a boy band.

Hijinks ensue surrounding their capture by a Troll, and how they (and Jakob's brothers) outwit, outplan, and out-heart the troll, his wives, and a fox trickster who half helps them (and half harms them.)

This book builds tension without being too scary, although there are gory details, and also is wholesome fun in terms of relationships between characters.

Well done as YA. Recommended.
