ILY: Capper

Journal entries with ILY in the titles are about the short screen musical
I LOVE YOU, I'M SORRY, AND I'LL NEVER DO IT AGAIN,
currently in pre-production.

Am I the only one who's already thought This new film probably won't get into The Ethics of Entertainment?

Anyway.

This PDF file is exactly the same as the last version of the script, only it's got a "capper" at the end.

In THE NIGHT MEN, I used the line "It takes a hell of a plan to be better than no plan at all." This was a paraphrase of "It takes a hell of a drummer to be better than no drummer at all."

To paraphrase further: It takes a hell of a capper to be better than no capper at all. For this one to qualify as a hell of a, the direction, choreography, cinematography, acting, and sound design will all have to work together with a lot of panache and style. That's why the only camera direction in the entire script appears here.

Here's the good part: It's the last thing in the film, so if it doesn't come off, it'll come out. I'll revert to the original, cutting to black when the guns come up.

But it'll cost almost nothing to shoot, above and beyond what we'll already be spending. So it makes far more sense to get it (and possibly decide in post not use it) than to decide now not to shoot it (and realize in post I need it).

Enjoy.

In other news, I attended a SAG workshop last Thursday, which was well worth the time. I LOVE YOU, I'M SORRY, AND I'LL NEVER DO IT AGAIN, will be a SAG film, under their Short Film Agreement. This replaces their Experimental Film Agreement, and allows the use of SAG actors for no money. That assumes the film will only screen at festivals, and will not gain distribution. If it does gain distribution, we'll have to pay the SAG actor $100/workday, retroactively.

So I have a date a week from tomorrow to review their talent pool, which I understand means going in and looking at headshots, organized by ethnicity, age, etc. I'm also seeing about setting up interviews with potential producers that afternoon.
