Searching for Panther in the Jungle
I forgot to talk about my experiences GETTING the newest version of Mac OS X (named Panther).
The nearest Apple store is down in Santa Monica at the 3rd St. Promenade. After my Hwa Rang Do class, I head down there, found a really good parking space and started walking...
As I approached, there was a large people jam (which is pretty normal for 3rd St because there are lots of street performers and people will congregate). Suddenly, I realized the people jam was because they were in line to get into the Apple Store. Not filing into the store... but waiting in line to get in. There was a door man regulating the influx of people. :)
It was a total madhouse inside.. there must have been 500 people in the store.
While I was there and they were having a release party discount, I thought about buying a scanner I've been looking at... right at the last moment I asked if my iBook (the old version, now) supported USB 2.0 like the scanner.. and unfortunately was shot down. :(
I don't want to get a scanner that only supports USB 1.1 and I don't know how many Firewire scanners are out there, but I will begin my search. *sigh*
