2004-02-11 1:39 PM Folklore of the Macintosh The head of the engineering pryamid at Google is Wayne Rosing. It has been brought to my attention that he was a manager at Apple during the development of the Macintosh.... and due to his goodness as a manager, personal computing made a huge jump forward:
Rosing's Rascals: The beginning of Lisa, the original Macintosh UI A couple of guys wanted to make a change that would make the product better, but they were probably going to slip the schedule on an already slipping project. Instead of being a hardass and telling them to screw off because of the schedule and instead of being spineless and letting the project slip wildly away... he took a middle ground. Put the burden on the people who wanted the extra time... show me you can do it and I'll give you the extra room you need to run. It's really uplifting to see how that kind of even-keeled thinking can push personal computing forward. Normally we only hear about people who are the driven, type-A personalities (like Steve Jobs) in regards to pushing the envelope. Read/Post Comments (5) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
