2004-04-05 9:36 AM Bike, Beach, Bee, Ball, Back Yesterday, I rode my bike down to the beach to hang out with Johnny, Ariel, Ken, Shelley, Steven and a bunch of other peeps.
On my way there, I actually broke the speed limit on my bike. It was really surprising! There was a hill that was really steep and I didn't like how fast I was going, so I rode my brakes all the way down the hill to keep myself at a comfortable speed. I looked down quickly at the speedometer and it said 29.8 mph. Wow! Then I looked up at the Speed Limit sign I was passing and it said 25 mph. DOH! So I slowed down. :) It was only about 6 miles for me, but everyone give it up for Ken and Shelley who biked from where THEY live... 27 miles away! Which is 54 miles there and back! Damn! I accidentally stepped on a bee while we were throwing the frisbee (no pun intended).. I've never been stung by a bee before, so I had no idea it hurt so bad. A little meditation seemed to numb the pain nicely though. One good thing is that we know I'm not allergic to bees! This was my first sting, so I was a little worried. We played a little volleyball, hung out on the beach, grabbed some food and headed home. I found out Ariel has set a goal for herself to qualify for the Boston Marathon by the time she's 30. Good luck! :) Biking back up to Brentwood was hell. Going from the beach up to the cliffs to get to Sunset Blvd was brutal, but I made it through, Ken and Shelley stuck with me which was nice of them, especially since they can go a lot faster than me. So, we're only missing the "back" part of the subject... and no, it's not my back, it's Jenn is Back! WOO! I picked her up from the airport last night after her week in Tahoe. Yay!!!
