Korea Day 5: Jeju!

Jeju is a small originally volcanic island off the southern tip of Korea. It doesn't really have anything to do with the Silla kingdom or Hwa Rang Do, but it's a big Korean tourist location so it was a must on a tour of Korea. The thing I dug the most was this enormous volcanic crater (the volcano died a long time ago). From the bottom of the crater, the fog obscured the view of the top.

The climb up to the top was awesome. After 4 days of sitting on a bus doing nothing, the exercise was invigorating! It was 542 steps to the top! ... and gorgeous the whole way.

By the time we got to the top, the fog obscured the ground below and it was awesome. Then, it was of course group picture time. *sigh*

Notice how the group of us block the entire walkway? Isn't that fun? Oh wait, no, that's rude. See this guy, a very high ranking HRD Black Sash, says "Let's take the picture over there." Jenn, standing next to him, says something like "That will block the walkway and other people won't be able to walk by," to which he responds, "That's fine." *blink blink* She responds, "That's fine? Nice," and then walks away. *sigh* More evidence that high rank doesn't make up for rudeness. So, everyone runs over there to take the picture and I have to stand up on a bench to yell to everyone and tell them to get out of the way because they have trapped an old Korean couple. *shakes head*

Jenn managed to score some awesome pictures around the crater also, like this:

Here's a great picture of James, our super tour guide!

We saw just a couple more things on Jeju and they were extremely brief. In fact, we went to visit this castle from "old times" and only were allowed to stay there long enough for us to gather and take a group photo. *sigh*

The last thing we saw as an authentic-fake village (a village built explicitly to show what an authentic village looked like).

After that, we hopped on a plane and flew back to the mainland and crashed at yet another hotel.
