Freedom of the Press?
I'm a little disturbed by this and I would REALLY like it to be hype and turn out to be false.
A British secret memo was leaked that contained a transcript of a conversation between Blair and Bush in which Blair talks Bush out of specifically targetting attacks at the Al-Jazeera news organization.
The British government has told its news media that they cannot publish any details about this memo because it is against the Law. The civil servants involved in the leak are currently being tried in court for breaking the Official Secrets Act. This is the part that worries me. I would really like to believe that despite all the horrible shit our President has said and done that I can trust he is not sitting in an office plotting the murder of civilians. I would really like to believe that. The thing that makes me worry is that they civil servants who leaked the memo are being tried for breaking the law. We aren't being told that the voracity of the memo is being investigated. We aren't being told that it is fake.
The US military has already attacked Al-Jazeera twice, once in 2002 and once in 2003.
Somedays I wish I was Canadian.
