Virtual Fame
A funny thing happened tonight in the chat channels of World of Warcraft. The latest content patch (3.1) dropped on Tuesday and so we've been experiencing a great deal of problems. It's normal. It's expected. It's frustrating, but we soldier on. After all, big freaking deal. We can only play parts of the game for a day.
I was playing my Priest, Umyang, instead of my main Warlock character, Johl. Someone was bitching in chat about how the dungeons are messed up... the following convo is paraphrased (his name changed somewhat to protect the .... amusing):
[Fen] The dungeons have been messed up for months. It's a constant problem.
[Umyang] Well, they certainly are messed up now and Blizzard is working on them, but they've been working great for months.
[Fen] You have no idea what you're talking about.
[Umyang] I've been doing approximately 4 or 5 dungeons per day, 5 or 6 days per week every week since December and the worst problem I tend to encounter is that the dungeon server is overloaded and I have to wait 30 seconds for it to start a new dungeon. No big deal.
[Fen] Well, I have no idea who you are. It looks like you are in the <Ministry of Silly DOOM> and I've been on this server a long time and I've never heard of your guild, so you can't be very good. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.
[Umyang] Well, my guild is essentially 2 or 3 people. I prefer Friends and Family guilds. Much less drama. So I'm not surprised that you haven't heard of my guild. It doesn't bother me. It doesn't change the fact that the dungeons have been working fine for months.
[Fen] You can't be very good if I've never heard of you so it's doubtful that you're doing the high end dungeons. Trust me, they've been broken for a long time.
[RandomPerson1] I've heard of Umyang.
[RandomPerson2] I know Umyang.
[RandomPerson3] Umyang is a great healer and if you don't know that then maybe you are the one who hasn't been around.
[Umyang] <3 You guys.
[Umyang] I'm just going to throw this out there. Do you happen to know a guy who's got a gaping wide Enchanting Hole?

[Umyang] Oh, so you DO know me.
