2010-03-13 10:13 AM Texas Board of Education: Removing Thomas Jefferson from History Standards Texas BOE Removes Jefferson From History Standard
Go ahead and say it. I'll wait. WHAT THE FUCK? The Texas Freedom Network continues to live blog the Texas State Board of Education hearings where the curriculum standards are being revised. Board member Cynthia Dunbar wants to change a standard having students study the impact of Enlightenment ideas on political revolutions from 1750 to the present. She wants to drop the reference to Enlightenment ideas (replacing with "the writings of") and to Thomas Jefferson. She adds Thomas Aquinas and others. One more time. WHAT THE FUCK? I previously blogged about why the stupid things the Texas Board of Education does are important. You should definitely read through the top link, because the Texas Board of Education isn't trying to create a real curriculum, they are creating a partisan and completely disconnected from reality curriculum in which the Founding Fathers "intended to promote religion" despite the clear intention they had to avoid letting government promote. I think this is the reason they want to remove Jefferson from discussion of the rise of liberal Democracy because Jefferson was a deist and did not believe in a Christian style God. Brett, I expect you to fix this. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
