In my e-mail yesterday I was informed about an exciting new potential job at UCLA. We're maybe going to try to arrange an on-line interview for that, or perhaps wait until back in the States for a traditional one. More details as they come my way. I know the position has do with the the use of databases in the humanities, and it might mean that Willeke can have me help her in Egypt on full pay.

The day before leaving on this trip, we went to see Troy. I thought it quite good and recommend it if you like historical movies, epics, war stories, or Brad Pitt. I'd give it slightly higher marks overall if its closest comparison wasn't Lord of the Rings, which is so recent, and contains two of the same major actors that it makes Troy not look unique, and therefore lessens it.

Also, I must thank Jenn and Kenny for treating us to an excellent Thai dinner that night, and for letting us sleep over at their place. It's great to have such good friends!
