Without warning, the new mid-plane assembly unit showed up via delivery truck. My request status page at Apple has not changed, as they said it would, when the part was shipped. As far as I knew, it was still back-ordered.

It took about an hour to follow the numerous steps in the 45-page booklet describing how to remove the hard disk, optical drive, power inverter, etc., and then switch boards and put all the pieces back together again.

End result: Humpty Dumpty ain't happy!

Same thing. No power-up.

Their on-line consultant said it might be the power inverter, and take the whole machine to the repair place. Even though I took the power inverter out and put it back in, apparently it's not a user-replacable part!
