"In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed." Kahlil Gibran

will the real me please stand up?

Who is the real me?

It occurred to me today, when a local politician came by to solicit my vote, that I react differently to people who knock on my door.

With this politician, I was civil, suspicious, probably rather cold.

When my son or any other relative comes to visit, I'm happy, excited and full of joy.

When I'm with the town gossip, I find myself leaning in and listening with an avid ear. I don't always repeat what I hear, but occasionally I do find myself to be the gossiper.

When I'm with an elderly person, I tend to be more gentle, more patient, kinder even.

If its a neighbor in trouble knocking at the door, I seem to be empathetic and take on the worry of the neighbor.

The postman almost always brings a smile to my face...I like getting mail...even the bills that come monthly. Dunno why...I just do.

If its a salesperson or a religious zealot, I am very curt, polite, but very curt.

Is that the way most people are? Or do I have a major case of split personality?
