2006-03-13 8:55 AM The Albino Code Why does Hollywood reinforce or even create hateful stereotypes of the least vocal minority? Racial minorities, women, gays and even people with albinism. "Powder," "The Matrix" and, soon, "The DaVinci Code" all portray "albinos," or people with albinism, as supernatural, often evil, red-eyed freaks when the reality is that they are people with a skin pigmentation disorder and are usually nearly blind.
My very funny and talented actor/writer friend, Dennis Hurley, is a man with albinism and is beginning to take action against Hollywood's negative portrayal of people with albinism in his best way possible: theatrically. He's creating a short film spoof currently titled, "The Albino Code" and will be handing out information at "The DaVinci Code" opening in May. He would like others to take similar action and is organizing events across the United States. This is his website. If you'd like to join him in his work, the site contains a link to contact him. Thanks. Read/Post Comments (2) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
