Regarding the outcome of yesterday's general elections:

You know, if this were simply a win of Republicans over Democrats it wouldn't bother me nearly so much. I've been on the losing side in elections before; no doubt I will be again.

But this one - both on the state and the federal level - is so much more than that.

This is a triumph of hatred over compassion.

Of lies over facts.

Of obstruction over progress.

Of stupidity over common sense.

Here in my portion of Oklahoma's State Senate District 6 the pain is especially acute this morning. A majority of voters in this county took a senator who has literally gone to the mat for us and told him to go jump in the lake. Gratitude means nothing, apparently. Shameful.

My hope is that, after a couple of years, people will look at the mess things have become and realize the mistake they made.

My fear is that by then it will be too late...
