As much as you'll hear me complain about some students in this journal, most are wonderful, raw, growing people whom I'm happy to have met. And as their teacher, I get to hear their stories, and I'll bring some of those to you (anonymously, of course).

Like, for example, the student who is concerned that one of his classmates is being abused. She has a cast on her arm, and he thought he noticed a bruise. He's been unable to talk to her directly, so asked me to keep an eye on her. I don't see her frequently, but I'll make sure I look carefully when I do. Sometimes the campus community is more of a true neighborhood than the places we live in.
