The Chateau of Fun is safe! That's the name that Greg gave to the amazing log cabin that my thesis advisor built up in the Arizona forest where the Rodeo-Chediski fire is located. To call it a cabin doesn't describe it - three stories, two kitchens, built to entertain loads of people. Plenty of comfortable conversation nooks. No computer, no television...just a place where family and friends can be together. My advisor built it all by himself, with only a little assistance on some electrical issues. It's a beautiful place, and so far, it stands. I hope it survives the rest of the fire season.

I found this article to be somewhat disturbing. I am uncomfortable with making such medical records open to legal requests. Especially the records of Planned Parenthood clinics, which are always the subject of witchhunts.

Off to Los Angeles tomorrow. It'll be good to get away from this heat. I'm tired of averages temps over 110 degrees. I hope that you all have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!
