Greg and I spent a pleasant weekend in Los Angeles. We hung out with Kirsten, Aaron, Brian, Amy, Kenny and Jenn. (Congrats to Jenn on earning her black belt!) Did some classic Los Angeles activities - drove pretty new car down Sunset Blvd whilst Aaron screamed at the "beautiful people", ate greasy food at Venice beach, tried ice cream from Mashti Malone, and visited Little Tokyo. Although it was an enjoyable visit, I'm glad to be home, because we've been out of town for the past four weekends. Whew.

The highlight of the Little Tokyo foray (well, besides the yummy tempura udon) was the Kinokuniya bookstore. Besides the extensive manga selection, what appealed to me the most was the stationary. There are a series of notebooks produced by Kyokuto Assoc that have the most amazing phrases on the covers. I wanted to buy them all, but settled on the following one, which was blue and sprinkled with stars:

All tiny things are pretty.
Sweet strawberries, stars,
flowers, four-leafed clovers,
and my heart ached for you.

Isn't that beautiful?
