2004-04-10 11:05 PM If only it were always like this... I just finished my 1,000 words for the day.
When writing, I wish I could get at least 2,000 in per day if not more, but often I'm grateful for the 1,000. It was hard writing this afternoon. My head hurt and I was stahaharving. After dinner, I felt so much better, my tummy full of lovely shrimp penne pasta. I wrote some of the best stuff I've written for a long while. Instead of trying to get the story on paper, vomiting it out as fast as I can, I paused and thought about what was coming out. I took so much time on a scene, describing things, working on the right words, pulling out a thesaurus and dictonary... I tasted the words and the words were good. Did I just rip off someone? Is that a quote from, like, Hemingway? Let's hope that's an original. Hmmm.... or did he taste something else and it was good. Crap. Is that from A Movable Feast? I'll have to look it up. In any event, the words were good, lovely, wonderful. I love this feeling of exhilaration when everything works together, coming together as art. Time for bed, kiddies. Tomorrow I will tell you about the wonderful friends I had dinner with this evening. We discussed writing a little ... and oh yeah -- that was good, too :). Night.
