2004-08-04 8:51 AM on old friends I updated the day before yesterday, but lost the entry. It was about the wild weekend I had, so busy and full, and how some friends came to dinner and we had jambalaya and apple cake and how they're moving away today... And how I'll miss them. I've known the wife since the fall of 1993 and then we met again in 2002. We'll miss them a lot and Avadore will miss their children. But at least I'll be able to see them again. Today is the 6th anniversary of Alan. We gave Avadore his middle name for our Alan. On the 7th at about 7:30 or so, 6 years ago, Alan's brother called Rice and I to tell us Alan had died on the 4th. We had been with him the night before, on the 3rd, having a great time, and then we left him. I didn't want to leave. For some reason I wanted to stay with him, protect him from something, but still, Rice and I left him there all alone. He got himself into trouble he couldn't get out of, and that was it. Maybe someday there'll be The Rest of the Story, but for now, I remember you, and you're always in our hearts and on our minds even though now you're free.
