make yourselves heard

There's a lot of people out there who are having a very, very sad day. A lot of people are upset that their candidate didn't win, or at least that their not-candidate did.

People are upset because they're worried for the economy, worried for soldiers, worried about Iraq, bin Laden, about things like Medicare, about taxes, the environment, "moral" issues like pro-choice and the right for all to marry, worried for the future of our country.

But this is the United States, and we can still be heard and have the right to have our beliefs represented.

I would encourage you all, if you are worried that an issue or opinion will not be represented or addressed as you would like, do what you can do to change that. There are millions of us that asked to have a new America yesterday, and millions more whose desire has been granted. If we all forge ahead together, write to our political leaders, from the most local level up to the highest, that would be a huge yell and the changes might come.

Many of us have at least been semi-politically active in the last several months or so, maybe less. Don't lose the fire, don't give up. Please. Keep the fire burning so we can join together and make this one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice, so we can have the beautiful country and lives we all dream of.

As I mentioned previously, I have a lot of concerns in terms of our country and in terms of the impact the economy is going to have on my community and my family. I am worried about the state of our country, and its place in the world.

This is only a small part of my worries, but I will write many, many letters, and do what I can so that somehow, there will be a bright tomorrow. I hope you all will do the same.

My legislators are going to be so annoyed with all my letters about equal marriage rights.
