Rice (my husband) and our friend got home about 2:00 a.m. this morning. They did take Winter to the ER where Winter went through the process of admitting himself to the local mental health facility where they will care for him and evaluate him. He has to stay until Tuesday absolutely. After that, we're not sure. It is possible that after he is evaluated they may keep him longer once they figure out he has other problems than just being suicidal.

Rice is on the phone with his mom right now. I think she'll be relieved he's getting some help.

We're also in the process of ensuring that he isn't here alone during any of Thanksgiving weekend while we're away (if he's out yet, which he could be). He had plans with his mom and with a friend, but they weren't constant and consistent enough to make sure he wasn't alone.

Because of the adrenaline, dog, cat and toddler, neither Rice nor I got a lot of sleep last night. I think we're both a little punch drunk. This could be an interesting day to make some art.
