2005-09-21 7:16 PM a quick note for the feminists Okay. I don't want the feminists (male and female) out there to get pissed at me for aspects of my last entry.
I pointed out the feminists were upset because part of the reason they were concerned with my affection for the poem was because they thought it had negative connotations for women. It may be there, but I didn't get that from the poem. (Something about beating the prostitutes who had to work by selling their bodies because the men beat them down... it's circular.) Actually, I suspect probably most (if not all) of the women (there was one man in the class) were feminists. Some were just a lot more upset about all the ways women have been dominated over time than the others, and so it came up. A lot. BTW, I'd consider myself a feminist.
